MyCube Article on Principles
Privacy, ownership and control.
Now more than ever the users privacy is extremely important and the user should not be viewed as the product. MyCube’s philosophy of ownership and control is a fundamental right. I believe in this as an element that is crucial to establish trust with the user and security of your own data. I myself use a private cloud service hosted on a personal server (eyeos). I agree with MyCube values. For example, everyone owns personal things in their home, so everyone should be able to own their personal content online.
Interest Grid
I agree completely with the principal of allowing the user to have complete control over his or her content. More and more in today’s society we omit accountability. With the concept/function of “interest grid” you are now more conscious of what you share and who sees it. I know from experience I have had instances where I need to share a tweet, facebook message, email, or document and only need certain eyes to see. I like the idea that when I send a document or message to a fellow cube user, the only people seeing my data are the intended recipients. Empower the user and the product quality will follow.
Monetization
The monetization assistance for MyCube users is unique. The term Social Exchange is perfect for this features and idea of empowering a user to display content that could potentially be worth paying for. The internet’s free content model is slowly flipping itself to “good content =pay for it” I see sites like Mahalo’s Q&A have touched on this idea as well. MyCube’s monetization (I have not tried the beta. waiting for admission to beta) idea could go one step further and become the, if not “the first” to have independent consult on a wide range of topics via ala cart pay for what you need system. We live in age of “on demand” information. This could remedy websites plagued by over saturated ads and dependency on advertisements to support a site, instead you rely on ones expertise and knowledge through MyCube.
Why I should be selected for MyCube internship?
I am a recent college graduate from University of North Carolina at Charlotte and majored in Sociology. I am driven and eager to create and innovate anything I am involved in. I have a great work ethic and hunger for results. I know my skills will contribute greatly to MyCube’s goals and training. I have a strong background in Internet media and usage. I have basic web design skills, but I am willing to learn anything to get the job done. I have the entrepreneur’s fire to create. I have my own side projects designing paintball products. I understand the amount of work needed to get a product or business off the ground (it’s not a 9am-5pm work day). I have a wide array of experiences to pull from. (Management, basic web design, product design). This industry is apart of the cutting edge and that is where I want to be.
